Complementary health care – What is it?
Alternatively known as Complementary and Alternative Medicine, this is a huge scope of branching medical and healthcare systems that are not considered part of Western health care.
Is Complementary heath care Safe?
Many of these therapies are regulated and in general have a main body which oversees that a proper code of ethics and education have been achieved before the therapist begins work with the general public. However, this is not to say that all complementary healthcare is treated this way. This means the responsibility falls on the consumer to ensure that their therapist is educated and uses a proper code of practice.
Take Hypnotherapy as an example. There are places who will offer a weekend training, or a written course for a few hundred pounds which many assumes will qualify them as a therapist. Yet clearly these types of courses cannot begin to give someone the correct means of giving therapy to the public, least of all those with deep set trauma.
So, when looking for a therapist, always ensure that they have proper certification, ask for insurance details and resolve any other doubts that you may have. Any proper therapist will be more than happy to provide these details to you and have you check them with the organisation.

So what exactly does this mean? In very simple terms, it means being healthy in all aspects of your life, not just not having an illness or disability. This is what leads to you being able to control your own health, as there are probably many social factors etc that may be out with your control and you cannot change. What you can change is the way you feel about them!
